Kara was taking care of a patient who was on our unit for an extended period of time. Due to this, the individual had become very disheartened and lonely. Kara went above and beyond, giving the individual not only the physical care they needed but also providing psychological compassion.

During a night shift, Kara spent an hour reading all of the patients' cards from friends and loved ones. I was brought to tears hearing her communicate these messages with such grace and dignity. Additionally, she brought in some small toys and games for the patient to use after he had expressed boredom.

Kara sets a high standard for patient care, and I am glad to call her my coworker.
