I had Kandi as my nurse for a heart procedure. She was very attentive to my needs. I am very difficult to get an IV into, and yet she did an excellent job! That procedure went very well, and I was discharged the same day. I got along well with her, and we exchanged phone numbers. I was scheduled for a second heart procedure, so I called Kandi a couple of weeks prior to the procedure and asked her if she could be my nurse. She was able to do that, and while prepping for the procedure, she did another great job finding a vein and starting an IV. The procedure went fine, although after a waking-up period from the anesthesia, I got up to walk around and, on the second lap, which I asked to do as I felt great, started bleeding profusely from the insertion point. She got me back to my room immediately, had me lie flat, and, with another nurse, put pressure on the area with a large dark sponge; she was very calm and reassuring. She also made the provider aware of this ASAP and, with the help of other nurses, put what looked like a large dark sponge on my insertion point, which applied constant pressure to finally get the bleeding to stop. This device stayed on while I lay flat for a couple of hours. The device was removed, and the bleeding finally stopped. I was transferred to a patient room where I would stay overnight. Kandi stayed with me the entire time and assured me things would be OK. She also made sure the night nurse had a thorough turnover of what happened during the day.

Last but not least, the next morning Kandi came to see me to make sure I was doing OK before my discharge. She also made sure my husband received bandages so he could apply a fresh dressing daily until the area healed. She has been an exceptional nurse for me during these two procedures and deserves recognition. She is the kind of nurse that makes Baylor Scott & White a "world-class" medical facility! I hope to have Kandi for my 3rd procedure. I was pretty freaked out, and she calmed me down.
