Somehow, she had the ability to bring out the best in me. She made me feel special. She made me feel like her favorite patient.
During my 6 week stay at Spaulding I had the pleasure and good fortune to meet dozens of amazing people. Each one of them made a positive impact on my recovery with their individual contribution, whether it was big or small. But there was one person in particular who helped me in a special way and touched my heart, and I would like to recognize and thank her for her efforts. This person is my favorite nurse. Kaitlyn was an excellent nurse and cared for me extremely well. She was kind, caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable. She would always pass my medicine to me when I asked her to. She would always tell me the names of the pills she was giving me. She would always administer my bowel program when I asked her to. Another thing that she did that I liked was, at the beginning of her shift, she would come to my room with a big, bright smile and inform me she would be my nurse for the evening. I liked this because once I knew she was going to be my nurse, I knew I was going to be well cared for and have a good night. But the thing that set Kaitlyn apart from all my other nurses was her fun and friendly personality. She would crack jokes, she would make me laugh, she would laugh at my jokes. No matter how bad things were going, no matter how much pain I had, I could always count on her to raise my spirits. Somehow, she had the ability to bring out the best in me. She made me feel special. She made me feel like her favorite patient. She gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward even when everything seemed to be going wrong. She helped me heal. Kaitlyn had a huge impact on my recovery, and for this, I am forever grateful. Thank you. I will never forget the laughs and smiles we shared.
