Kaitie Ray, RN
I would like to formally recognize Kaitie Ray for her exceptional compassion and dedication to going above and beyond for one of our patients. This patient had no family and wished to return home to spend her final moments in her own room. She had a Do Not Resuscitate order but was dependent on multiple IV drips and pressors, which the nursing home was unable to continue. The patient understood that once the drips were discontinued, her chances of survival would be very limited.
Despite these challenges, Kaitie selflessly stepped in to ensure the patient's wishes were honored. She personally accompanied the patient during the ambulance transfer, managing the discontinuation of the IV drips with compassion and professionalism. Thanks to Kaitie's actions, the patient was able to return to her room and pass peacefully in the place she considered home with her friends. This extraordinary act reflects the highest standards of nursing care and human kindness. Kaitie's dedication to her patient's dignity and end-of-life wishes is truly commendable and deserving of recognition.
