September 2026 Honoree
Kailey Labuda, RN, BSN
Kailey Labuda was incredibly kind and helpful during my hospitalization. I was on quite a few different meds, and I wanted to know when they would be given to me. Kailey wrote the times down on the whiteboard in my room to help ease my anxiety. Kailey was never late administering my meds and would give them to me on time to ease my anxiety. She was never late. If she was going to be late or if she was caring for another patient, she sent someone else in with the medication to keep my anxiety at bay. I also had Kailey one day, and she was going to be back the next day to be my nurse, but the schedule changed due to staffing issues, and she had a day off. At that point, she was worried about me. So she called a colleague here on the floor and asked them if they could please get to me right away to let me know of the change. Now that’s commitment and was so very much appreciated.
Kailey was also kind enough to spend some time with me, as a good human, and to have a conversation. My family lives far away from here, so I was only able to get visitors once or twice a week, and I was a bit lonely. But Kailey made it a point to make sure to connect with me throughout the day that she was here. I really looked forward to connecting with her every day. I was also receiving snacks from the nutrition department. But when I moved, the snacks stopped. So even though Kailey knew nothing about the snack system through Nutrition, she went out of her way to figure it out and get my snacks delivered. It all just shows her good character, kindness, empathy, and good nursing skills! Thank you for hiring her! The quality of care really made a difference in my stay!
