Kailey was there for me in every possible way.
When God thought about nurses, he knew that they would need certain characteristics: caring, compassion, empathy, competence, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, sense of humor, endurance, and commitment to patient advocacy, just to name a few. Kailey possesses all of these and more.
When I was admitted through the emergency department and was brought to my room, she was there waiting for me. Every day, she walked into my room with a huge smile, a fresh ice pack, and a fresh apple juice. She knew my needs without ever being told. She gave me such wonderful care, which made my stay so much more enjoyable, if you can say five days in a hospital is enjoyable!
When a situation came up regarding surgery, she sat with me, counseled me as to my rights, prayed with me, and called my doctor to request a visit to my room to explain the surgery. She even let the surgical nurses know that I was alone and waiting for family members to arrive.
Kailey was there for me in every possible way. She went way beyond the call of duty. I was lucky to have her for three days of my stay. She never once asked someone working alongside her to complete a task. She was always upbeat, concerned as to my well-being, conscientious, and truly my guardian angel. I will never forget her and the care that she gave me. I feel that she deserves the highest award possible.
