Kaelan Ward, RN, BSN

I would like to recognize Kaelan because of the consistent compassion, dedication, and excellence she brings to pediatric emergency nursing every single day. What makes this nomination difficult is that there is not just one defining moment or event that stands out; it has been the accumulation of countless moments over the past three years that demonstrate the kind of nurse she is.

Even as a new graduate nurse, she never hesitated to step up and help wherever needed, especially in the trauma room. She consistently shows initiative, remains calm in high-stress situations, and is always willing to jump in to support both patients and coworkers without being asked.

One of the most admirable qualities of Kaelan is her commitment to continually learning and growing. She is always trying to deepen her understanding of trauma care, disease processes, and pediatric emergency medicine so she can provide the best possible care to our patient population. It is clear that she genuinely cares about becoming a better nurse, not for recognition, but because she wants every child and family she encounters to receive exceptional care.

Beyond clinical skill and knowledge, this nurse brings compassion and reassurance to families during some of the hardest moments of their lives. She treats patients with kindness, patience, and empathy, and they create a sense of calm even in chaotic situations. Her dedication to both their patients and her team does not go unnoticed.

Kaelan embodies what it means to be a pediatric emergency nurse, and I cannot think of someone more deserving of recognition through the DAISY Award.
