He balances professionalism with genuine kindness and humility, creating an atmosphere of trust during an extremely stressful and emotional time.
I met Nurse Justin a few days ago in the ICU after my brother was moved from the sixth floor. What began as pneumonia quickly progressed into a far more serious medical situation. Given the circumstances and my responsibility as my brother’s advocate, I chose to remain at the hospital overnight to closely observe his care. It was during this time that I met Justin, and I was immediately struck by his level of excellence. His swift, precise movements, constant attentiveness, and unwavering focus on my brother’s well-being were remarkable. Every medication was administered on time, repositioning was done diligently, and each action was carefully documented without hesitation. What stood out even more was Justin’s strict adherence to sanitation and infection-control protocols. I consistently observed him washing his hands thoroughly and changing gloves appropriately and regularly—without shortcuts. This level of discipline and integrity is not always seen, even in critical care environments.

I am now on my third consecutive night with Justin as my brother’s nurse, and his demeanor has remained consistently calm, focused, and composed. He never lets up. He balances professionalism with genuine kindness and humility, creating an atmosphere of trust during an extremely stressful and emotional time. Having been around many healthcare professionals over the years, I can confidently say that Justin is exceptional. Unlike some who may appear kind but lack urgency or attentiveness, Justin is the opposite—highly skilled, proactive, compassionate, and fully present. He is not only an outstanding nurse but a true specialist and servant leader. Justin is a top-tier professional and an extraordinary human being. I wholeheartedly nominate him for the DAISY Award and any other recognition that honors excellence in nursing, service, and compassionate care.
