My sister was a patient on the 3rd floor. She had terminal cancer and it was very hard to see her decline and not understand the dying process. Julie went above and beyond to help us understand what she was going through and why she was not eating drinking or able to stay awake. She was very good at explaining things. Julie went to great lengths on the weekend to find a booklet that described the dying process. This booklet, plus her explanation, were immensely helpful to us and helped us to better cope with the dying process.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn and Julie made numerous phone calls to arrange for the discount mentioned on the Aurora Health Care web site. The Holiday Inn did not have the discount information readily available. Julie also brought in a quilt made by the volunteers to give the room a little color, and lip and hand lotion for my sister to make her more comfortable. She did all this plus her regular duties of caring for her and others.
Right before the end of her last shift with us, Julie came in to talk to us to see if we needed anything else or had any other questions that she could answer. Julie certainly is one of the kindest and most caring nurses that we met during this difficult time.
