It is my honor to share today’s DAISY Award presentation. Today, we have the privilege of celebrating a nurse whose kindness, attentiveness, and heart have made a profound difference.
Here are five stories that beautifully reflect the consistent, extraordinary care this nurse provides:
“Julie, you were such a help. You are a kind nurse. I am glad he had you for a nurse. You helped my best friend with her dad, and she is very grateful for the help and kindness you showed him. You will be in our hearts for the person you are. Thank you!”
“Julie—from the moment I walked in the door, she showed us concern and compassion. She handled my dad with nothing but kindness. Explaining to me every step of the way. This is the hardest time in my life. Julie made me and my whole family feel welcome. Always checking dad's needs and ours. She was always willing to answer any questions. She has gone over and beyond her job.”
“Julie was attentive, patient, and kind. We had had some rough experiences the day prior to her shift, and she truly turned things around. She was empathetic and quick to seek resolutions on issues we had had previously. She was a great listener and made sure to follow up on our needs.”

Anything she can do, she has done. She has let us cry on her shoulder and helped manage visitors at times when it got to be too much. Julie will always have a special place in my heart. Mercy Hospital is better with staff like Julie. She definitely deserves the DAISY Award. But most importantly—you can see she loves what she does, and it shows.”
