Julie is a school-based health expert and provides mentorship to other school-based health centers in Illinois.
We strongly believe that Julianne Russell is an excellent candidate for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award at Endeavor Health. Julie has been an invaluable clinician at North Shore/Endeavor Health for the past thirty years! During this time, Julie has provided exceptional care to patients and families at the Evanston Township High School Health Center. She was one of the founding providers at this valuable health center, which serves 4,000 students and families per year at a historic institution in the Evanston community. She continues to be the full-time anchor at the clinic, providing mentorship, institutional knowledge, and clinical experience to all who work alongside her.
Moreover, Julie played a pivotal role in expanding the health center services to include District 65 children for school physicals and vaccinations, allowing hundreds of children to be compliant with mandatory school health requirements. This policy change removed a significant barrier for vulnerable children in the Evanston community to access vital health services.
Julie is a school-based health expert and provides mentorship to other school-based health centers in Illinois. She is passionate about pediatric and adolescent health care and has proven to be a dynamic advocate for this population. Additionally, Julie has held a position on the Evanston Health Advisory Council (EHAC) for decades, which has established her as an activist and leader in furthering the health and wellness of the Evanston community at large. Julie has accrued a loyal client base of ETHS alumni and current patients that, in addition to her medical service, have sought her career advice and support.
Julie has also promoted the growth and development of the APRN profession and workforce by serving as a clinical preceptor to over fifty APRN students during her time at North Shore/Endeavor Health. During this time, Julie collaborated with multiple universities across the suburbs and Chicago. She provided crucial clinical training and mentorship to APRN students in a highly sought-after clinical rotation (pediatrics). Below is a statement from one of Julie’s recent DNP-FNP students:
“Julie was an integral part of my FNP clinical experience, as she was always sharing her knowledge and empowering me to feel confident in making clinical decisions. I looked forward to my clinical time with her, as I knew she’d exude positive energy and provide the best patient care possible. It would be a compliment to be compared to her.”
After a truly iconic thirty-year career at North Shore/Endeavor Health, Julie is gearing up for a much-deserved retirement in December 2025. We think this award would be a great way to highlight and honor Julie’s legacy at North Shore/Endeavor Health.
