The gentleness and tenderness with which she cared for our tiny daughter allowed me to believe, even in the darkest moments, that our daughter was safe and deeply loved.
When our daughter arrived in the PICU, Nurse Jules became someone we immediately depended on. She cared for our daughter and supported my wife and me during the most terrifying time of our lives. That first night, I was there alone. Our one-month-old daughter was critically ill, and I could not comprehend what was happening. The fear was overwhelming. As Jules cared for our daughter with confidence and attention, she also took the time to sit beside me and comfort me. Her ability to care for my daughter while supporting me in that moment meant everything. On the worst night of my life, she was there. Although Jules had never been on a care team before, she chose to be on our daughter’s team. That decision changed everything for me. The gentleness and tenderness with which she cared for our tiny daughter allowed me to believe, even in the darkest moments, that our daughter was safe and deeply loved.

Her care extended beyond our daughter. Jules cared for me as well. She saw me not just as a parent at the bedside, but as a person trying to survive something unimaginable. She explained things when my mind was clouded with fear, listened when I needed to talk, and walked beside me through a journey I never wanted to take. When the time came to say goodbye to our beautiful daughter, Jules came in on her day off. She did not have to be there, but she chose to be. Her presence in those final moments gave me a strength I did not know I had. She loved our daughter as if she were her own. Jules became family. She became part of our story, part of our daughter’s life, and part of my ability to survive her loss. I truly do not know how I would have made it through without her. The impact she has had on my life will stay with me forever.
