April 2026 Honoree
Julia Bieniek, RN
When I initially brought my son into the hospital, Julia created a document to make our lives easier, talk to the doctors and communicate appropriately. All of his needs, all of his meds, and all of his care were included. I was so grateful for that document that she had created, but it got better once we were discharged. We were readmitted, and Julia was our nurse again. Before we even made it to the floor, Julia went above and beyond and took those same documents and upgraded them to reflect the current visit.
She had our sick day diet already put together; she had the changes in the medications already updated on the form. She had already laminated the forms and was handing them out to the doctors and to the nurses' station. She was on a roll as an exhausted mom recovering from the flu herself.
It meant so much to me to be able to come into the room and just breathe, not have to do any long meetings, conversations, or updates. Julia already had a cover, and everything that she did was accurate. We did not have to adjust anything from the documents that she had made. When I think about quality top-notch care, I think of Julia.
Now that we are back in the hospital again, I am already hoping and praying that she will be our nurse. Over the past four months, these documents have been a game-changer for his medical and academic care. I have been able to provide these documents in IEP meetings. I have been able to provide them in therapy, at doctor appointments, and at the Home Health agency that I work with. I’m able to provide them to them as well, and it has given my life such ease.
Julia deserves double recognition for the double effort that she gave in both of those admissions.
Thank you so much, Julia. We appreciate all that you do for us and all of your other patients. I’m sure you do this type of thing for all of your patients, and Nicklaus is so blessed to have you on their team.
I have to be honest, it’s nurses like you who help medical moms like myself stay consistent with care and recurring visits. You are the epitome of what a nurse should be. Thank you!
