When things feel uncertain, JT becomes a source of reassurance and strength.
JT is the kind of nurse every patient hopes for, and every family quietly prays will walk through the door. In moments of crisis, he brings a calm that steadies the entire room—offering clear direction, thoughtfully assessing each situation, and acting with confidence and care. When things feel uncertain, JT becomes a source of reassurance and strength. Yet what truly makes JT extraordinary are the quieter moments that often go unseen.

It’s the gentle way he sings a patient’s name as he enters their room, letting them know it’s him before they even look up. You can almost see the tension melt from their shoulders when they recognize his voice. It’s the stillness of a dimly lit room, the glow of a computer monitor reflecting off his watchful face as he sits beside a resting patient who has no family present, offering comfort simply by being there during life’s most fragile moments. It’s the patience and kindness he shows to patients lost in the confusion of dementia—those who may feel frightened or unsafe within their own minds. With JT beside them, speaking softly and meeting them where they are, their worry fades. They settle into calm conversation, feeling safe and understood.

JT’s compassion extends beyond his patients as well. When colleagues feel overwhelmed or frustrated, he gently reminds them of what it must feel like to be in a patient’s place, drawing on his deep well of empathy and helping others reconnect with the heart of their work. He is attentive, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable—but what makes him remarkable is how freely he shares that knowledge and kindness with those around him, never seeking recognition. With JT, it’s never only about the big, heroic moments. It’s about the small acts of humanity that happen quietly every day. He does this work without expecting praise or acknowledgment, simply because it is who he is. Anyone fortunate enough to be cared for by JT—or to work beside him—walks away better for the experience. He is not only an exceptional nurse but an exceptional person, and he is deeply deserving of this recognition.
