She exhibited a great deal of knowledge and problem-solving when his ventilator was experiencing an alarmingly high pressure.
My husband had an aortic valve replacement back in 2020, a tissue valve. This type of valve will usually last 15+ years. My husband became ill in June of 2025 after going to the cardiologist, and further testing revealed that he failed his stress test and his aortic valve was not working. It has been ongoing health issues, and he is very discouraged with his lack of progress and declining health. Joy came on her shift at 7:00 pm, smiling and happy, introduced herself, and cared for my husband. I was at the bedside the entire time due to the decline in his condition. Joy was extremely compassionate, professional, and kind, addressing his every need. With having a trach and being on the vent, you feel like you have lost your voice - communication is very hard. Joy was very patient, listening and verbalizing with him . She exhibited a great deal of knowledge and problem-solving when his ventilator was experiencing an alarmingly high pressure. She was very calm and reassuring, easing his anxiety as well as mine. She gingerly took care of all his hygiene needs, turning him frequently to ease the pressure points as he has been bedridden for close to a month now. Joy's care was seamless in its delivery and fully embodied the hospital's mission statement: dignity, the sacredness of life, and service. We are blessed beyond measure to have her serving as a Competent Registered Nurse in this community. Please recognize her for her outstanding care and achievements.
