I would not be able to have this lifelong symbol of his heart without Joslyn’s kindness.
Joslyn was so kind. Every interaction was of love, gentleness, and intention. She was always respectful of our family when she came to check on my Grandpa. If we were silent, she was silent. If we were singing, she never disturbed or stared. If we had questions, she answered with intelligence and kindness. She made sure he was comfortable and cared for until his final breath. We knew he was going to pass, and Joslyn took the time to record his heartbeat. She printed out a few of his heartbeats on small papers, put them in small glass vials, and added white ribbon. She also made several cards, with his heartbeats, and poems about the love of God and the beauty of life and family. To say we are touched comes nowhere near to accurately acknowledging this woman’s gift.

The dedication she holds in her position goes beyond her notable skills and experience in healthcare- it extends to her heartfelt love and consideration for every individual, every family her work puts in her path. Joslyn is a gift. Her character is a blessing. Her heart is a light in a very dark time. Joslyn’s actions impacted us all deeply. She gave us something tangible that I will carry with me forever. I plan to get his heartbeat tattooed, which is such an incredible gift. I would not be able to have this lifelong symbol of his heart without Joslyn’s kindness. When we all received the vials and cards, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. She gave us a quiet moment of solemnity, yet it offered a relief, a chance to tiptoe into the grief we were afraid to acknowledge. She made enough for all of us. It was something we will never forget.
