Joe is a true leader and a nurse who is very compassionate about ensuring that others are well taken care of in their time of need.
Recently, at Roane General Hospital, we have had two internal disaster situations in which Joe truly went above and beyond in caring for our patients and our community. In March of 2024, we were notified of a bus wreck in a neighboring county, and Joe was instrumental in assisting and helping children who were involved in this wreck.
Joe was leaving for the day when he heard the call come through and didn't hesitate to hop on an ambulance from the hospital in order to assist. Joe, along with other staff members, made contact with administration, EMS personnel, and the ER staff to keep us informed and to be as ready as we could be for when patients started arriving.
In April of 2024, we had a local emergency due to flooding in our area, and our Ambulance Service was notified of water getting into houses and into Marcap Manor, where several residents were on the first floor with water coming in. Joe immediately assisted with other ambulance personnel to ensure that these patients were safe and had a safe place to go.
Joe worked with the administration and other staff to ensure that patients were transported safely to a safe shelter for the night until arrangements could be made the following morning. Joe is a true leader and a nurse who is very compassionate about ensuring that others are well taken care of in their time of need. These patients and residents of the community were very appreciative of Joe's skill and compassion throughout this time.
