Jordan is a nurse who goes above and beyond his job description to ensure each patient feels cared for to the fullest extent.
My husband had major surgery; he is a combat veteran with multiple tours. My husband does not do well when waking from anesthesia and can be combative at times. The PACU nurses made the floor nurse, Jordan, aware of this and prepared him before they transferred my husband to his unit, where he would stay overnight.
Once we got upstairs, Jordan met us in the room and made sure to ask me (the wife) what helps or makes the situation worse. I spoke to him and, much to my surprise, he listened and was more than respectful to me, my husband, and the situation. My husband was in a great amount of pain; Jordan did everything in his power to ease that pain and even requested the doctor to come and assess the situation again, even though it was in the middle of the night. Jordan made sure to keep the environment very calming, the lights on dim, voices softened, and even requested a better bed to help ease my husband's discomfort.
We are not new to hospitals by any means and have had our fair share of nurses over the years. Jordan not only made sure to give my husband relief from pain, but he also put my husband’s mind at ease, which is not an easy task. Jordan is a very patient nurse who never once made us wait if we pushed the call light. It was a difficult night for my husband, not only due to the pain level, but also due to being in a strange environment. Jordan never approached my husband without letting me know so that I could wake him first.

As the wife, I appreciate Jordan's ability to listen to my concerns as well as my husband's; he never once made us feel that we were not his top priority. When my husband was in terrible pain, Jordan did not hesitate to recognize this and act on it immediately. Every patient needs a nurse like Jordan. I am so grateful that my husband had a nurse whom he trusted completely, and for a combat veteran, that is not something you come by every day.
