She cares so much about the people she’s around.
Jordan always puts in 1000% for her patients and her coworkers, and always with a positive and helpful attitude. Recently, we had several patients arrive at the unit all at once, two of them with SWAN devices that require a lot of setup. I was going to be the nurse for both patients because the other available nurse at the time had not yet passed off on the care of SWAN patients. Jordan was the charge nurse, and even though I knew she was insanely busy, she helped with the entire setup of one of the SWANs, including sending the appropriate blood work, while I worked on the other. This was all during a time when she really needed to be working on staffing for the next shift.

I could tell she was stressed, but she still smiled and made sure I felt supported and okay. She blamed no one or anything; she just kept chugging along, making sure the entire team was okay before returning to her charge nurse duties. This is just one of thousands of examples of Jordan doing her best to care so much for her patients and her team, and of how strongly she values teamwork and belonging. She always makes sure to include people and help, even when it isn’t her job.

Furthermore, she always tries to make our patients safer by providing the best, evidence-based care. She has created and implemented various interventions over the years to help improve patient outcomes, including labeling IV tubing and reducing Foley days on our unit. And when others have struggled, she has stepped in to help and even picked up the slack. She cares so much about the people she’s around.

I know that I talked a lot in the last question box, but I need to stress how valued, supported, and included Jordan makes everyone feel. The fact that she will cry when a patient has a sad outcome and can’t do anything to change it, or that she will sit and hold a patient’s or family member’s hand, adds to the proof that she is one of the best nurses in this hospital. Maybe even this state or country.

I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to work with her, and I know my entire unit feels the same way.
