My nurse went above what I consider the basic call of duty. He has gentleness and knowledge, his peers seek him out for help and information, and they respect him. He was able to calm me when I was anxious or in pain and this is the story that is one of life’s difficulties.

I started to ask everyone how I could get an appointment with Radiology, as it was the last day to get in for a mammogram. I would call nurses aids, LPNS, RNs, Charge Nurses, patient helpers, Radiology, patient experience, my doctor, and rehab people, and the answer was, "I don’t know." I was terribly frustrated! Jon was different; for two days he worked on finding and solution with radiology. Now I'll be able to do my scan with women's health. John would visit for five minutes to make a difference. Patients are away from home, helpless to stop our own pain. Dazed by the change in environment, with no companionship, and at times depressed considering all they are dealing with. But Jons's encouragement, suggestions, stories, and help in those short visits make me feel like I matter. I will remember it in rehab, and I will get back to my old self. I wish I could put into words how valuable Jon has been to my stay. He kept my head above water for sure.
