Jomol demonstrates excellent care every day through her caring and compassionate approach to patients and families.

After my total knee replacement, I arrived at Burke Rehab. Upon entering my room, I was facing a small woman. This small nurse had the biggest heart, and it overflowed with compassion.

I was in terrible pain and could not walk. She took time to explain the pain medication and gave it to me. Within 45 minutes it started to work. She assured my family that it would be alright. Then came the ice packs, which she explained to leave on for 15-20 minutes, then leave off for one hour, and then repeat all day. She came in to check the ice and make sure I was following instructions.

Sometimes when the nurses have a "sunshine" smile that they carry around with them, it makes the patient smile back and not think of the pain for that minute. We all know what we are supposed to do, but do most people do it? I say no.

This is why Jomol deserves this DAISY Award. The people who do the work should be acknowledged for their excellent work. I think she is the brightest daisy in the garden!
