This leader consistently leads with his heart. He embodies servant leadership—meeting the needs of patients and families with grace and compassion, often behind the scenes.
This award goes to a leader who does many things that are above and beyond. Below are two examples of what an incredible leader we have amongst us. The first example is from a patient and the second example is from a peer.

Kudos to you! You lead an incredible team. Our stay was more in line with a luxury hotel stay versus a hospital stay. Your staff showed us integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. Everything, from housekeeping to food services to ancillary staff, including the nurses and doctors, was incredible. None of this would have been possible without your direction.

A second powerful example of this leader’s compassion and commitment stands out profoundly. In our hospital, we care for patients from all walks of life—some facing unimaginable circumstances, including homelessness and mental health crises. One particularly heartbreaking case involved a young child and a parent who was clearly struggling with their own mental health, which in turn affected their ability to seek proper care for their child.

In a situation where it would have been easy to make assumptions or pass judgment, this leader chose empathy. He took the time to understand the complex challenges this family was facing—recognizing not only the mental health struggles, but also the severe financial barriers that left them without access to basic hygiene or clean clothing.

Without hesitation, he quietly and humbly gathered new clothes, undergarments, hygiene supplies, and even secured community resources to support the family beyond discharge. He did all of this not for recognition, but because it was the right thing to do.

This leader consistently leads with his heart. He embodies servant leadership—meeting the needs of patients and families with grace and compassion, often behind the scenes. He is a silent force for good, a true nursing ninja, and a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
