John Breiland, RN

We had a patient who presented to the walk-in clinic and was currently houseless. Due to the weather, this patient was struggling with frostbite on their toes. The patient only had old, worn-out tennis shoes with holes in them. The patient was brought back by our nurse, John Breiland. During their conversation, John found out why the patient was struggling with frostbite and got the patient ready to be treated by the provider.

While the patient was being treated, John went out to his car and grabbed his boots and some extra socks he kept in his bag and gave them to the patient. Simply saying, "You need these more than I do." John did not hesitate to help and acted with compassion and empathy while giving the patient what they needed during their most vulnerable time. John's kindness is a breath of fresh air, and we are so lucky to have a nurse like him in the Walk-In.
