1LT Dela Torre's most recent research in 2024, addressing the lived experiences of amputee soldiers utilizing lower limb prostheses, underscores the emotional and physical challenges these patients encounter.
As a committed Research Officer and Primary Health Care (PHC) Officer, 1LT Joey G Dela Torre Jr NC has made substantial contributions that significantly enhance the health, recovery, and overall well-being of soldiers, their dependents, and other patients. From 2022 to 2024, he was instrumental in the development of three research studies that established evidence-based interventions. His 2022 study examining the lifestyle practices of military personnel during the pandemic resulted in the establishment of the Behavior, Exercise, Diet (BED) Program, a preventive health initiative aimed at fostering healthier living among soldiers, ultimately mitigating chronic disease risks for service members and setting a benchmark for analogous patient-focused programs.

In 2023, his award-winning research on schistosomiasis awareness among troops in Eastern Visayas highlighted critical gaps in disease knowledge. His most recent research in 2024, addressing the lived experiences of amputee soldiers utilizing lower limb prostheses, underscores the emotional and physical challenges these patients encounter. The study provides insights for improved rehabilitation services, supportive policies, and long-term care plans aimed at enhancing quality of life, not solely for current military personnel but also for all individuals adapting to life with prosthetics.

Beyond his research endeavors, he has spearheaded comprehensive public health initiatives across the 8ID and 6ID regions. His emphasis on chronic disease prevention, health education expansion, and strengthening tuberculosis and HIV control measures has resulted in earlier diagnoses, expedited access to treatment, and enhanced patient outcomes. His dedication to confidential and compassionate HIV care has facilitated timely referrals and life-saving interventions for patients, effectively curtailing transmission and bolstering long-term health. Through his research and frontline health coordination efforts, he has consistently advanced patient-centered care. His contributions not only enhance the health of military personnel today but also establish a foundation for more responsive, informed, and compassionate healthcare systems for future patients.
