During the final hours of my brother's battle with cancer, my sister and I were blessed to be in the care of Nurse Jocelyn on the night shift.

From the moment she entered his room, it was clear that she was not only a highly skilled nurse, but also an angel of compassion. Jocelyn kept us informed every step of the way, speaking with honesty, empathy, and gentleness. She reassured us with words like "I'm doing everything I can" and "I'm sorry you have to go through this."* She never shied away from the gravity of my brother's condition, but the way she delivered that truth helped us feel seen, supported, and never alone.

Even though my brother was completely unconscious, Jocelyn treated him with the utmost dignity and respect. Every time she listened to his lungs, changed his dialysis bags, or adjusted his care, she spoke directly to him. Throughout the night, she would gently remind him, "Hey Joe, your sisters are here." Those moments meant the world to us because she never allowed him to become just another patient. He was a person, our brother, and she honored him as such until the very end.

After he passed away just before shift change, Jocelyn carefully introduced us to the oncoming nurse, ensuring a smooth transition in our care. Before leaving, she embraced my sister and me with the biggest, most genuine hug. In that moment, she gave us comfort that words alone never could.

Jocelyn embodies everything the DAISY Award represents. Her compassion, presence, and humanity carried us through the most difficult night of our lives. If every hospital had nurses like her, the world would truly be a better place. She is, without a doubt, a true angel in scrubs.

My grandfather was a patient in the Medical Surgical ICU at Baptist Downtown. He passed away on the unit.

My family and I would like to recognize Registered Nurse Jocelyn Wrubleski for the extraordinary care she provided during his final hours.

I am an ICU registered nurse in Florida, and because of my profession, I have witnessed exceptional nursing care firsthand. Even so, I was amazed by the compassion, empathy, and professionalism Jocelyn demonstrated throughout that night and into the early morning.

She consistently practiced "caring out loud," explaining every treatment, medication, and intervention as she performed them so that my family and I always understood what was happening. She was patient in answering every question we had and made sure we felt informed and included throughout my grandfather's care.

Most importantly, the compassion she showed my grandfather inspired me professionally. Watching the way Jocelyn cared for him reminded me of the kind of nurse I strive to be. Her kindness, respect, and unwavering presence demonstrated the very best our profession has to offer.

My family and I will always be grateful for the exceptional care my grandfather received from the entire team at Baptist. However, Jocelyn's extraordinary compassion, clinical excellence, and genuine humanity deserve special recognition.

Thank you for taking the time to recognize the remarkable care she provides. She is truly deserving of this honor.

Thank you, Jocelyn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
