I spent one week as a patient on the Churfirsten ward following emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction. Due to logistical reasons, I had to change rooms several times, which gave me the opportunity to observe Joanna caring for many different patients, including myself.

I can hardly put into words how impressed I was by her kindness, compassion, and professionalism. She consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of care, even when looking after patients who required extensive nursing care or had complex needs. No matter how challenging the situation, Joanna remained patient, attentive, and fully committed to providing the best possible care.

What stood out most was her remarkable empathy. She has a unique ability to truly listen to her patients, understand their needs, and respond with sensitivity, warmth, humor, and expertise. I never once saw her lose patience or display anything other than kindness and respect. Her calm and reassuring presence had a profound impact not only on me but also on everyone around her.

In particular, I witnessed the way she cared for my elderly roommate, who was in severe pain and was often anxious and distressed. Joanna was always there to comfort her, provide reassurance, and offer genuine human compassion. She made sure that she always felt safe, heard, and well cared for.

Joanna's work goes far beyond simply fulfilling her professional responsibilities. Nursing is clearly her calling, and it shows in every interaction she has. Her dedication, strong work ethic, and compassionate approach make a real difference in the lives of her patients.
