I went in to deliver my full-term baby boy and was given the awful news that no mother or person wants to hear, and that was my son had no heartbeat. From the moment that was confirmed, Jill and the rest of the team were the most supportive and amazing nurses I could have had. She gave me a shoulder to cry on and treated me with such delicacy and patience. Jill was absolutely amazing. She made me feel that every feeling, reaction, and question I had was completely valid. While delivering my baby, Jill ensured I knew she was there with me and for me the entire time. She held my hand, talked me through labor, and made sure to capture every moment as perfectly as possible, knowing they would be the only memories I have to hold onto for the rest of my life.

After delivery, Jill treated my baby like he was still alive, made sure to handle him with such care and grace, and gave me his birth stats just like she would any other baby in a “normal” situation. She then took it upon herself to create the most beautiful keepsake box for our family. She did things that no grieving mother was even able to think of during this time. She provided our family with hand prints, foot prints, a hat, a bracelet, and a ribbon signifying his length. Jill even went as far as saving a lock of my sweet boy's hair for us to hold onto. Jill continued to check in and make sure I knew that if no one else, I had her. She stayed past her shift to just sit and talk to me and make sure I was going to be okay navigating this new chapter in our lives. Jill was an absolute angel, and I firmly believe she was put on shift that night solely for us because we needed her more than we’d ever know.
