I am honored to nominate Jeus for the DAISY Award for his extraordinary patient care, compassion, and dedication to the nursing profession. Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of working alongside Jeus, and I have witnessed firsthand his unwavering commitment to both his patients and the nursing team. His tireless energy and enthusiasm make him a standout nurse who goes above and beyond every day to make a difference in the lives of those he cares for. Jeus’s passion for nursing is evident in everything he does. His genuine love for the profession is apparent in the personalized care he provides to every patient. He goes out of his way to understand each patient's individual needs, making sure to learn what brings them comfort, whether it's a favorite sporting event or a simple conversation. He ensures that every patient feels seen and valued—not just as a disease process, but as a person. This level of compassion and care speaks to his deep empathy for others and his desire to positively impact their lives.  

What sets Jeus apart is not just his remarkable care for patients but also his exceptional teamwork and leadership skills. He is a constant presence on the unit, always willing to lend a hand when needed. His ability to connect with both patients and staff has earned him the trust and respect of everyone he works with. Whether it’s offering support to a colleague in need or calming a worried family member, Jeus brings a sense of comfort and trust that is invaluable to the team. He builds relationships with his patients and their families by calling them by name and offering them reassurance through difficult times. His work ethic and selflessness are unmatched, and he is the first to sign up when opportunities arise that allow him to use his skills to support others. Jeus has supported the onboarding of many new hires, stepped in as an interim educator when one was needed, and played a key role in launching the short-stay surgical unit. He was also an invaluable resource during the surgical oncology merger, utilizing his vast experience working with diverse patient populations to help expand our knowledge base. His contributions during the pandemic, including volunteering on the step-down COVID unit as an in-charge nurse, showcase his selflessness and dedication to serving his community, even in the most challenging circumstances.  

In all the roles he has taken on, Jeus has consistently proven his ability to adapt, lead, and support his colleagues and patients. His versatility is unmatched, but what truly stands out is the heart of gold he has for nursing. No matter what hat he’s wearing, his patients are always his priority. His compassion, energy, and commitment to providing exceptional care make him a model nurse. I can confidently say that Jeus’s love for nursing and his patients shines brightest when he is actively engaging with them, whether it’s offering a helping hand, getting a patient up and moving, or providing comfort during a difficult moment.
