She shared her passion for mental health and desire to work with younger individuals, demonstrating a true commitment to quality nursing care and service to others.
Jessica committed herself as the only student representative to two days of very busy vitals at athletic physicals. She was very professional and kind to student athletes. She navigated clinical challenges like elevated blood pressure with supportive education and reassurance to students. She was engaging with faculty, sharing her love of her experience at WilmU and her desire to pursue a BSN to DNP PMHNP at WilmU. She shared her passion for mental health and desire to work with younger individuals, demonstrating a true commitment to quality nursing care and service to others.

In addition to communicating with faculty at the athlete's physicals, she held additional conversations with this faculty member via email, as well as after attending a seminar offered by NP programs on pediatric mental health. She expressed her active commitment in her current role as a pediatric nurse to promoting quality mental health care for others and expressed her future commitment to being an advocate when she becomes an APRN in the future.

From the brief time that I have already spent with Jessie, I can tell that she will grow to be a strong advocate for the role of PMHNP. She is excited to start her graduate education and learn more about the role of the PMHNP in practice. I observed her participate actively in discussions during our NP Seminar program on pediatric mental health, discussing the need for quality care by PMHNP for pediatric clients. She also verbalized a passion for her future profession during our time doing vital signs for student athletes.

I want to thank Jessie for making athlete physicals a positive experience of engagement with student athletes and engagement with each other. I admired her motivation and creativity. She demonstrated professionalism and care that truly demonstrate what the DAISY Award represents. I look forward to having her as a future student in the BSN to DNP PMHNP program when she completes the RN to BSN program.
