Jessica Okolo, LPN

Jessie was the very definition of compassion for my 101-year-old mother today. The ED waiting room was full of patients who did not yet have rooms because of the August weather disaster and power outage, yet Jessie never lost sight of the individual needs of my mom. Even before she knew my mother would become her patient, Jessie helped me find the supplies I needed to care for her. Once she was assigned to my mom, she patiently and gently washed the results of my mother’s injury from her hair, treating her with such dignity and kindness. She also listened carefully to every question I had and made sure each one was addressed by our wonderful ED physician. Throughout the experience, Jessie made me feel heard, supported, and confident that my mother was in caring hands. Jessie is the perfect example of a patient and family advocate. Her compassion, patience, and dedication made a difficult day much easier for our family. She is truly deserving of a DAISY Award.
