Jess was God-sent. From the time she entered my room, she showed nothing less than compassion and empathy. Every night that I encountered her, a little glimpse of hope was restored in me. One morning, I awoke in severe pain. The only time she left me during that episode was to consult with the attending doctor. She counted with me, she hummed my name with me, as I was constantly reminding myself that the pain wouldn’t last forever. Jess was wiping my neck and face with washcloths in the most motherly manner I’ve experienced outside of my own mother. Every time I looked up, she was still there, keeping me calm! I had the most life-changing experience with her by my side!
