Throughout my 82 years, I have had multiple surgeries and procedures. In my opinion, Jessica's professional and interpersonal skills are exceptional.
It gives me great pleasure, as a recent patient of Charleston Area Medical Center in the Post Cardiac Catheterization Unit (PCCU), to recognize Jessica.
I was extremely impressed with her professionalism and care. While undergoing a heart catheterization, an occlusion developed in my right arm. A large hematoma caused severe swelling, which became very dangerous and painful. Needless to say, this chain of events caused me anxiety.
During this post-catheterization care, she demonstrated extraordinary clinical skills while simultaneously mentoring other staff members. For example, she synchronized pressure on my arm to stop the bleeding while instructing other nurses to request the vascular department for consultation and possible future treatment. Her interactions with other staff members were given and received respectfully.
She explained to me what was happening with my hematoma in layman’s terms. She made me feel safe and reassured. At one point she said, “We have your back, Mrs. H.” I was impressed with her decisiveness, directness, and accessibility. I witnessed her having self-confidence while giving instructions without hesitation. During my three-day hospital visit, her accessibility and organizational skills continued to meet my needs.
Throughout my 82 years, I have had multiple surgeries and procedures. In my opinion, Jessica's professional and interpersonal skills are exceptional. She is deserving of any recognition that CAMC can bestow. I only hope that if you ever need medical attention, you will be fortunate enough to have a nurse like her.
