Jessica was so patient in working with me, really listened to my concerns, and provided real solutions!
When my husband and I came into the labor and delivery unit, this was not our first rodeo, but it was most definitely the most stressful. Not because of the staff, but because this pregnancy had been so difficult. I had multiple events happen, such as a hospitalization due to my gall bladder, viral infections, and, most recently, the diagnosis of cholestasis of pregnancy. This scared us because it could lead to our daughter, T, the one we prayed so hard for, becoming stillborn. The thought that our baby girl was in danger because of my body broke my heart. We had to deliver early and, of course, on top of everything else, she was breech. The external cephalic version (ECV) was unsuccessful, and I was Covid +. So, now I had to do a C-section for the first time. I was completely nervous about it, and whether or not I could produce milk due to my condition. This is when the angel Jessica came into our lives and took charge.
She taught us how to properly breastfeed, how to increase my supply, and different ways to supplement if I was not ready to put T straight on a bottle. This meant the world to me because when we had our son, they did not go into such detail or show that much care when it came to the mother who wanted to breastfeed her baby. Jessica was so patient in working with me, really listened to my concerns, and provided real solutions! On top of that, the care she gave our baby girl was unmatched. From the way she handled her to the way she spoke to her, you could tell that Jessica really loves her job and does it with the utmost care and compassion. That is every mother’s dream, that their newborn is cared for just the way the parents would. She made sure we had everything to take home, didn't push any ideas about how babies should be fed, truly listened to anything I needed, and was such a help when I couldn’t move. She is one of the most thoughtful nurses I have ever met, and we are so blessed to have had her.
