Jessica came to check on me. Once she saw the state I was in, she came and stayed on the floor with me, talking me through my issues.
Many nurses in the Grace Unit are deserving of this award; however, one in particular has been incredibly genuine and empathetic with all of the patients here, including me. Perhaps even myself most of all, but of course I can’t be sure of that, as she seems just as caring and empathetic with everyone she talks to.
Earlier today I had had a panic attack and was afterwards lying on my floor talking, or rather yelling, at the voice in my head. For context, I have paranoid schizophrenia. Jessica came to check on me. Once she saw the state I was in, she came and stayed on the floor with me, talking me through my issues. Afterwards, I needed to take my meds, and I was genuinely amazed at her level of consideration. I was slowly walking through the halls, and she slowed her pace to match my own. While giving me my meds, she continued to talk me through things. Afterwards, she continued to check on me throughout the day with genuine concern, actually talking with me when she did. The word “considerate” isn’t enough to explain her behavior, but it’s the best one invented. I’ll try my best to invent another for her, though.
