Jeremy recently cared for a retired firefighter in our local community. This gentleman had proudly served his community for many years. His family had made the decision to transition to hospice care. On the day he was being transferred from the ICU to a private room on the floor so his family could be with him, Jeremy approached his leadership team and asked to coordinate an honor walk for this gentleman.

Jeremy went above and beyond, ensuring that all the family could be present and also reached out to the local fire stations, and opened up this honor walk to all the men and women who serve who could be present. In a two-hour timeframe, the hallways of the ICU were lined with local firefighters, EMS workers, and local police officers. The family had brought this fireman's hat and jacket, and laid them across him in the bed.

The hallways leaving the ICU were completely lined with community members who wanted to honor him. The hallway to the new room that the gentleman was going to was also full. I watched this gentleman's family follow behind his bed, and they were so incredibly grateful for this act of kindness. Jeremy went above and beyond, ensuring that this hero was honored in his final days.
