Her focus is not only to improve patient care, safety, and experience but also to revolutionize technology in the nursing workflow.
Jenny is a quiet leader. She does not do what she does for recognition. She thrives when she is challenged with new opportunities. She is passionate about developing new nurses and coaching them without them even knowing what she is doing. She will challenge them to critically think about the why behind what they do every day and how that affects not only their patients but themselves as well. She supports them in their work and their personal goals. They trust her and know that she supports them.

Jenny also works diligently to consistently improve the patient and staff environment. She can see where things can be better, and then she dives in to make it happen. As a member of the IONL Board, she co-chairs the education/program committee. She is always searching for innovative opportunities to share with all nurses throughout the state. She does not stop there. She advocates for nurses and patients not only in our group but with anyone who feels called to advocate for their beliefs. She reached out recently to mothers of patients who struggled with how to be heard and offered to assist them in reaching out to their legislative representatives. At work, she leads a very busy unit. She is a leader not afraid to step in and work alongside her staff. She truly leads by example.

Currently, she is leading projects to bring electronic whiteboards and an "organizationally grown" virtual nursing program to the hospital where she works. Her focus is not only to improve patient care, safety, and experience but also to revolutionize technology in the nursing workflow. The ideas she has are amazing, and I have no doubt she will succeed. I have watched Jenny grow from a brand-new RN to a very dedicated, knowledgeable, and successful leader.

These words seem so trivial compared to the actual impact she has made in the lives of so many people. She is truly worthy of this award, yet she will say she is just doing her job. But leading is more than a job to Jenny. You can hear that when she talks about what she does, and you can see it if you watch her in action.

Note: This is Jenny's 2nd DAISY Award!
