Jennifer has been an outstanding nurse since joining the HC team back in 2023. Jennifer consistently picks up shifts and works extra to make sure the ICUs at UI are getting the help they need. Truly going the extra mile. She made sure in this particular situation to be not only her patient's first, but also to make sure the family was well informed and as involved in the process as possible.

A particular patient came in and left, only to come back 9 weeks later, where Jennifer was their nurse again. The impact Jennifer made on her patient and family's lives is exactly what we are looking for in our nurses, and is a pillar for what the DAISY Award represents. 

The patient's family stated:

"My sister was in SICU after surgery for a herniated bowel obstruction. She was (and unfortunately is still) critical and my other sister and I were so scared, but Jen was her ICU nurse those first two days and she was amazing taking care of her and helping to encourage she and I to relieve our fears.

Now, 9 weeks later, we are back in the SICU, and we have Jen again for the last two days. She is just as amazing, helping to care for my sister and keep her spirits up. Nursing is a special skill, requiring fast thinking, multitasking, working hard, and doing hard jobs no one else wants to do, and most of all, having compassion for those in need, not only the patients but the families too. She rocks!"
