We knew Jen really cared about mom and was so sweet and yet professional in all of her dealings with us.
My mom came into the hospital with pneumonia. She had been transferred from a rehab facility. She was being given high dose antibiotic drips to fight the pneumonia, but with an underlying lung bacteria and late stage Parkinson's, the treatments were not working and after several days mom decided to stop all medications and IVs. At 87, she was done fighting. A butterfly paper was taped to her door for quiet. She was slowly drifting away.
Nurse Jen was in and out many times, aiding with morphine, checking vitals, making sure the family didn't need anything. If the family wanted to speak to Dr. B, she made sure that message got out to her. Jen went about her duties in such a kind, caring and unassuming way. We knew she really cared about mom and was so sweet and yet professional in all of her dealings with us. When mom passed, Jen gave us quiet moments to be together and grieve and relayed her condolences too. She was so special and deserves some recognition! A gem in the nursing profession!
