My wife and baby are both here and healthy, and we attribute that to Jenn's quick action.
My wife and I arrivedbecause her water broke. The next day, Jenn arrived as our nurse around 3 p.m., and her shift ended at 7 p.m. My wife had labored for around 26 hours, and she was 9.5 cm dilated. The attending wanted her to give a push on her next contraction to get the baby fully in position. Jenn was very supportive of the plan my wife had come up with surrounding the birth.
We could tell Jenn had our best interests at heart and wanted to provide the absolute best care she could, keeping my wife's wishes in mind and her safety at the forefront. When my wife went to push, she had a cough attack and immediately turned pale and sweaty. My wife mentioned that something was not right, and she was hot. Jenn continued to ask questions and assess. My wife started to d-sat, and the baby's health also started to dip.
While remaining calm, Jenn explained what was going to happen next and alerted the other care staff. There were a number of nurses and doctors who entered the room and prepared to move my wife to the OR for an emergency C-section. Jenn was also part of the team in the OR during the procedure, and once our baby was born, she ensured my wife and I both could see him and that he was alright.
It is suspected that my wife had an amniotic fluid embolism that also sent her body into DIC. My wife and baby are both here and healthy, and we attribute that to Jenn's quick actions. We are forever grateful for her and appreciate her more than we can express. During a dark and stressful delivery, she kept us calm, informed, and hopeful. We now get to live our dream as a family of 3, and we are so very thankful for her.
