Jennifer advocated for her patient to go outside, helped her transfer to the wheelchair, and took her outside so she could enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery.
Jennifer cared for a patient who survived a near fatal car accident and had multiple (painful) injuries. This patient had been on the unit for some weeks. Jennifer recognized the level of pain and anxiety the patient was experiencing and patiently spent as much time as possible with her to allow her the opportunity to talk about her feelings, the accident, and her family and kids. Jennifer was so upbeat and pleasant even when hearing the same story for the third or fourth time. The patient was ordered "sunshine therapy" - to go outside for fresh air and sun each shift - but had not been receiving this. Jennifer advocated for her patient to go outside, helped her transfer to the wheelchair, and took her outside so she could enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery. The patient could not thank Jennifer enough for the excellent care she received!
