Jen’s empathy, integrity, and unwavering commitment to human dignity make her a true embodiment of UCHealth’s core values.
I am deeply honored to nominate Jen for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Over the past two decades, Jen has consistently demonstrated exceptional clinical leadership and compassionate care within the Renal community. Jen has been instrumental in fostering a cohesive, collaborative environment among renal nursing staff, the dialysis team, and nephrology physicians. Her open communication and inclusive approach have strengthened these partnerships, ensuring coordinated, patient-centered care that truly reflects UCHealth’s core values. She recognizes and values the contributions of all disciplines, frequently acknowledging outstanding efforts from housekeeping and transport staff.

Jen’s genuine connection with multiple departments allows her to support each individual as if they were part of her own team. A key highlight of Jen’s leadership was her pivotal role in opening the new dialysis unit and successfully transitioning to an all-UCHealth team. This transition not only streamlined operations but also enhanced continuity and quality of care, reinforcing the culture of excellence Jen tirelessly champions. Jen serves on numerous shared governance committees, including the Fall Impact Team, System Mobility CEG, ACPC, Deterioration/Hypoglycemia, and her unit’s UPC. She has also actively supported the professional development of nursing staff by helping develop the Renal 101 class—a program focused on advancing knowledge and excellence in renal nursing care—and partnering with CommonSpirit to offer this class to all local renal nurses. Her deep connection with patients is evident, especially during their most challenging moments.

Patients and their families often find comfort in Jen’s familiar presence and expert knowledge. When being admitted to 5N Renal Medicine, many patients reach out to Jen personally, and she remembers detailed encounters from years prior—an enduring testament to her genuine and lasting commitment to each individual’s journey.

Beyond clinical care, Jen has been a tireless advocate for the Renal community through her leadership with the National Kidney Foundation Kidney Walk. Her efforts inspire hope, raise awareness, and build vital community support for patients and families affected by kidney disease. She leads her team to walk alongside the community, fostering bonds while actively raising significant funds for the organization—impacting lives far beyond our local area. Jen’s empathy, integrity, and unwavering commitment to human dignity make her a true embodiment of UCHealth’s core values. Her work has transformed lives and fostered a culture of respect, kindness, and excellence among staff, physicians, and patients alike. It is with great admiration and appreciation that I enthusiastically submit Jen’s nomination for this recognition.
