She was laser-focused on ensuring that this resident was as comfortable as possible as she passed.
We recently had a resident transition to end of life and pass on the Albero House. Jen was her nurse the day that she passed and I cannot say enough about the care that she provided to this resident that day, as well as to her family. Jen spent the entire twelve hour shift by the resident's side, making sure that she received her comfort meds regularly. She took no breaks. She had no lunch. She was laser-focused on ensuring that this resident was as comfortable as possible as she passed. She was also a source of comfort for the family, ensuring that they had everything they needed and that they understood exactly what was happening every step of the way. She was also precepting another nurse that day who had never experienced a resident transitioning to end of life. Jen showed exactly what nursing, and healthcare in general, is supposed to be about that day by exuding kindness, love, and compassion to the resident, to the resident's family, and to the nurse she was precepting. It is an honor to work alongside her every day, but especially on that particular day, in that situation, and experience the genuine compassion she gave to this resident and her loved ones. She is an exceptional nurse.
