What Jenn did that day for that family was so beautiful. She gave them a true gift.
I have been working in the medical ICU since before COVID. I started in 2019 on night shift with Jenn Bryant. Whenever I would work with her, I always felt that I had a very knowledgeable resource to lean on if I had any questions regarding my patient's care. Her skill and knowledge are 2nd to none. I have always and will continue to admire the impeccable care she delivers to each patient she cares for.
2 weeks ago, we had a family that had to make the difficult decision to make their father “comfort care”. The patient's wife was so worried about him that she ended up being admitted for respiratory failure that day in our ICU. Jenn, was the admitting nurse. Jenn went above and beyond to arrange for the wife to be admitted into her dying husband’s room. Our rooms are single-patient rooms, so this is never done on our unit. Jenn went out of her way for this family to bring them comfort during this difficult time. The patients had a son and daughter, and they were about to lose both parents.
Upon returning from an education class, I witnessed the two intubated patients holding hands during their last hours together with their two children at the bedside.
I just lost my Dad in March and had the honor of holding his hand when he breathed his last breath. The comfort that it gave me continues to bring me peace every day.
What Jenn did that day for that family was so beautiful. She gave them a true gift. Her shift came to an end at 7:30 that evening. Later that night, the couple passed 30 minutes apart.
Jennifer is truly a DAISY Nurse.
