The patients and family members Jennie cares for often describe her as genuine, kind, and willing to go above and beyond to make them comfortable.
Jennie is an amazing nurse and teammate. She has been a nurse on PCU for 5 years and during that time she has grown into a leader on the unit! She is a primary preceptor for new grads and a regular charge nurse. She is also the PCU Chair for PQE and is promoting to an RN III this year. Jennie’s peers describe her as compassionate, kind, patient, and an excellent team player. She often stays late if the night shift is short and has admissions right at shift change or just to help get the patients settled so they can have an easier start to their shift. She is flexible and willing to take whatever patient assignment is thrown her way! She remains calm under pressure and maintains her easy-going personality no matter what is happening during her shift. The patients and family members she cares for often describe her as genuine, kind, and willing to go above and beyond to make them comfortable. She makes them feel cared for as if they are her only patient, no matter how busy she is or short-staffed the unit is. She takes time to really listen to her patients and their families and explains things in a way that puts them at ease. She treats each patient as if it was her own family member and that does not go unnoticed. As her manager, I have been so proud to have Jennie on our team during these unprecedented times. She has maintained her kind and caring attitude even during unbelievably stressful times of working short-handed with the sickest patients we have ever seen on PCU. She continues to amaze me with how resilient she is despite having experienced personal loss in her family due to COVID this past year. She is one that I know can handle anything that gets thrown her way without complaints. I am so thankful she is a part of our PCU family.
