She was always so gentle in whatever procedure she was doing, always checking to be sure I was doing okay and she was not causing me any pain.
I was recently diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I had a double mastectomy a month after my diagnosis. I was an inpatient for a couple of days, and Jenn was my nurse. Not only was Jenn an amazing and knowledgeable nurse, but she was also kind, gentle, and compassionate. She explained to me all my meds and advised me on pain management. She respected my request not to look at my chest as I was not ready yet. She always discreetly checked my dressing and emptied my drains. She was always so gentle in whatever procedure she was doing, always checking to be sure I was doing okay and she was not causing me any pain. She never seemed the least bit exasperated when I asked for the 50th time to please pull me up in the bed! She understood comfort was paramount in pain management, rest, and overall well-being. She repeatedly told me how amazing I was doing and what a good, positive attitude I had, which was very helpful to hear, as I wasn't recognizing it until she pointed it out. She was always there when I needed her. I never had to wait for anything I needed. If I had a question, she would get the answer for me quickly.

She also patiently taught my husband how to empty the drains, encouraging him along the way until he was able to do it on his own. She was so attentive, and after a whirlwind month of being called back for more imaging, to having a double mastectomy, I needed the attentiveness.

She was the glue that helped me keep it together, whether she realized it or not. I feel the care Jenn gave me was exemplary and not just as a nurse but as a human being. She is truly the best of the best.

CVMC should be very proud to have her as part of their organization.
