As a pharmacy technician celebrating 12 years at the same hospital, I have worked alongside hundreds of clinicians, but Jenette Wilson stands completely alone. We first met on the demanding night shift, working together for six years while she was an LPN in Med-Surg and Observation. I watched her master the distinct, heavy stresses of those departments, always maintaining her bright spirit. But it was when she transitioned into hospice care that I experienced the true, supernatural depth of her gift.

My connection to Jenette became deeply personal when my own mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Jenette became her hospice nurse. In the most vulnerable, terrifying moment of my life, Jenette stepped into our darkness and became our safe harbor. She guided my family through the unimaginable and stood fiercely by our side when my mother passed away.

Jenette possesses a rare, profound gift that cannot be taught in nursing school: when she enters a room, the entire world fades away. In her presence, you have her complete, absolute, and undivided attention. She makes a patient feel as though there is no one else in the world but them. I felt it as a grieving daughter, and today, the patients in our Intensive Care Unit feel it too. Every department in a hospital carries immense weight.

Recently, Jenette showed her fierce determination by earning her BSN in January 2026 and transitioning into the acute, fast-paced environment of the ICU. Yet, despite the monitors, the alarms, and the high-tech pressure of her new role, Jenette has not lost an ounce of the soft-hearted, deeply personal care that defines her soul. She looks past the wires to see the human being in the bed. She steps into the frantic hours facing ICU families and provides the exact same undivided, loving focus she gave to my mother. Jenette has never lost sight of whom she wanted to be. She is the living embodiment of a DAISY Nurse, reminding our entire hospital daily that empathy remains our most powerful healing tool.

Thank you, Jenette, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
