I am writing to nominate the incredible Jefferson Methodist Hospital ICU night shift team that was present during a major incident involving a broken pipe above the unit. The team includes the following nurses: Casey Ives, Shu-Fang Tsai, Jenson Sunny, and Khan Le. I would also like to include PCT Daria Croce and Nurse Manager Michele McBride.
I am nominating this group to recognize their extraordinary performance and dedication during a challenging situation. During their shift, the team was confronted with a significant water leak that could have severely impacted patient care. However, their quick thinking, teamwork, and professionalism turned a potential crisis into a testament to their exceptional skills.
Despite the added stress of managing a major leak that caused damage throughout parts of the nursing area and patient rooms, the nurses took swift action to help contain the water, ensuring the environment remained safe for both patients and staff. They did this without compromising their primary responsibility—providing the highest level of care to our ICU patients. Their ability to multitask under pressure was remarkable, as they continued to deliver compassionate, attentive care to patients and their families while addressing the emergency at hand.
The team's seamless coordination and communication ensured that the patients remained safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the ordeal. Their commitment to patient care and the facility deserves to be celebrated and recognized.
They embody the true spirit of nursing excellence, demonstrating resilience, compassion, and teamwork in every situation. This highlights both their practical response to the emergency and their continued dedication to patient care.
Thank you for allowing me to nominate this group of nurses for their hard work and dedication. If you should need more information, I would be happy to supply it. Thank you.

I am writing to nominate the MICU nursing team at Jefferson Methodist Hospital. The nurses there are professional and compassionate. They always go above and beyond to deliver the best nursing care to their patients and their families. There are so many examples I can share that demonstrate the professionalism and compassion the MICU staff have for their patients. However, one stands out the most.
Around this time last year, the MICU nurses had the privilege of caring for a long-term patient with complex medical needs who remained in the unit for several months. During that time, the patient and their family became part of the extended family of MICU nurses. Everyone who took care of this patient came to know their daily habits and how to bring out their smile. The nurses would play their favorite music and often brought small items, like coloring books and figurines, to keep them engaged and help with fine motor activities.
After the patient was transferred to another facility, some staff members remained in contact with the family. A few months later, the family shared the sad news that the patient had passed away after a serious medical complication. This deeply affected the nurses who had cared for the patient for such a long time.
Even after the patient’s passing, the nursing team’s compassion for the family did not end there. The staff came together to organize a fundraiser to help support the family with related expenses and to ensure a proper memorial. In addition, several team members used their own time off to connect with local advocacy and support organizations to learn more about how to better care for and support families of patients with similar conditions.
This story shows why I am proud of this nursing team, I call family, and why they deserve this DAISY Team Award.
