I know nurses are very busy people, and it means a lot to all of us that he took the time to manage my case so well.
During my short stay at BCH, Jeff was the most helpful nurse assigned to me. He was kind and very patient. I had double jaw surgery and was staying at the hospital overnight. I know each nurse has many patients to look over and that they may not know all of the details of each patient’s condition/surgery. While I know this is just a coincidence, Jeff knew about orthognathic surgery and had even had work done by the same surgeon. His confidence in the surgeon and knowledge about the process relieved so much of my anxiety. I was very scared in the hospital, and sometimes all it takes is someone to relate to.

Jeff went out of his way to get me supplies like syringes and protein drinks that were not offered to me by other nurses. He was very diligent about checking on me and making sure my pain level was comfortable. My parents were staying with me, and he was kind enough to chat with my dad for a long while and offered personal stories to put both of us at ease. I know nurses are very busy people, and it means a lot to all of us that he took the time to manage my case so well.

The first week out of the hospital, all I was able to use to eat and drink were the syringes and tubes provided to me by Jeff. I bought multiple other devices to help me eat post-op, but the one Jeff gave me seemed to be the only one that worked comfortably. I am extremely grateful that he had experience with oral surgery patients and knew what supplies to give me.

Overall, I felt very valued under Jeff’s care. I have had other experiences at hospitals that have left me feeling discouraged. With Jeff, I felt like a human being rather than a number on a list or a task to check off. I know it is not easy to be a healthcare professional, especially an outstanding one.

Thank you so much, Jeff.
