He was very gentle with my sister, and he even called her by her nickname in an effort to make her feel more comfortable and at home in her surroundings.
During my time at VUAH, I have encountered so many awesome nurses and doctors. Some made an impression on me, but Jeb, with his encouraging spirit and charisma, has been the most impressive. He made this hospital stay like no other! Once again, all of her nurses thus far have been awesome, but Jeb had the patience of Job, as mentioned in the Bible. He was very gentle with my sister, and he even called her by her nickname in an effort to make her feel more comfortable and at home in her surroundings. Being in the hospital can be a scary place, and he helped make it feel less intimidating. She hadn't been responsive to any of the doctors or nurses, but he was the first one to get her to finally respond with a nod of her head. This was a result of talking her through, letting her know she was at the hospital, and that everyone would take good care of her.
When I was trying to explain to her what the doctors were saying, Jeb would further elaborate to her what I was trying to convey. If he moved her, an apology was given in advance! He sympathized with the pain she had been going through mentally and physically. This wasn't an easy process, and we didn't know what the finish line looked like, but I know one thing for certain: Jeb exemplifies what a nurse should be like! Readily available if the machine made a ding, asking if there was anything he could do to assist, all smiles, greeting upon entry, etc. Rarely could he be found at his station, as he was often at one of his patients' doors or assisting them as needed. I could see the passion and drive in him!
If I were ever in the hospital, I pray I would have a nurse like Jeb! Honestly speaking, I pray God allows a nurse of Jeb's character to be the nurse for all the sick and shut-in individuals. With the world being the way it is today, it's great to see someone who loves their career choice! Jeb is an asset to this hospital, and he has been instrumental in assisting my sister. Thanks, Jeb, and keep up the great work! I pray greatness follows you! It's true that people may not remember the exact words you use, but they will always remember how you made them feel! You have touched a place in my heart, and I am forever grateful!
