She made me feel like my daughter was in the right hands and that everything would be okay.
My husband and I would personally love to recognize our labor and delivery nurse, Jaycie.

I came into the hospital for a scheduled induction. This was my second child I was delivering, but my first time being induced. I was already pretty nervous about this delivery due to the pregnancy being high risk.

From the minute Jaycie walked into the room, she was very compassionate, patient, and trustworthy. She explained the whole induction process in a way for us to not only understand, but also to not feel nervous.

When my contractions got stronger, Jaycie made sure to communicate with the team quickly for me to be able to get my epidural, so I wasn’t in too much pain.

I wasn’t dilating fast enough to where we were thinking I was going to have a C-section. Jaycie understood that I wanted to deliver naturally if I was able to, and our goal was to have a smooth laboring process.

She made sure that if my husband or I needed anything, we got exactly what we needed. She explained every step to us and stood by my side the whole time.

Her shift was over before the baby was born, but she made sure to visit the next day after the baby was born.

Our daughter was taken to the NICU due to having her umbilical cord around her neck and not breathing right away after birth. Jaycie sat with me in my room, held my hand, and cried with me. She made me feel like my daughter was in the right hands and that everything would be okay.

A week later, on my daughter’s discharge day, I passed Jaycie in the hallway, and she remembered my name. I am sure that week she had lots of patients, but the fact that she remembered my name was touching and stuck with me.

Jaycie is the perfect example of a DAISY Award honoree.
